Community Camaraderie and Brain Puzzles Shine at Bangkok Brain n' Cube 2025English
Inside the Office of Computer Services at Kasetsart University, the usual quiet of academic halls gave way to the rhythmic clacking of turning mechanisms and the chatter of friends reuniting over puzzles. Competitors leaned over desks in small groups, sharing scrambles, comparing solve notations, and catching up between stages. With nineteen competitors taking part in Bangkok, Thailand on May 10, the atmosphere was defined by shared focus and peer support across an intensive single-day schedule.
This gathering, officially known as Bangkok Brain n' Cube 2025, brought an inviting energy tailored specifically to specialty events. Rather than the frenetic pace of standard events, the lineup placed a strong emphasis on discipline and precision. Across four events and seven rounds, participants embraced the mental trials together, turning the cubing competition into a collaborative showcase of technical puzzle solving and shared analytical passion.
The 3x3x3 Blindfolded competition offered intense focus as solvers relied on memorisation rather than sight. Anawin Chaichana led the event with a winning single of 27.08 seconds, capturing first place on the podium. Korakot Inkaew claimed second place with a time of 1:01.04, while Natthaphat Mahtani completed the top three with a mark of 1:45.75. The event highlighted the technical complexity of speedcubing when visual feedback is removed completely.
Strategy took centre stage in 3x3x3 Fewest Moves, where competitors spent their time working through efficient sequences on paper rather than racing standard timers. Phuwish Sripattrapan topped the field of 17 competitors with a winning average of 24.67 and a best single solve of 23 moves. Korakot Inkaew secured second place with an average of 28.00, and Anawin Chaichana added another medal to his tally by taking third place with 31.00 moves.
The competitive spirit of speed cubing was equally vibrant beyond the podium battles, where personal milestones defined the day. Norrawit Pluemchit tackled three events, achieving a major personal best in Square-1 of 36.15 seconds, which was 21.5 percent faster than his previous mark. He also made his first ever attempt at 3x3x3 Fewest Moves with a result of 49, lowered his Clock personal best to 10.87 seconds, a 3.5 percent improvement, and earned his best finish of 15th in Fewest Moves. Meanwhile, Yanavut Jaipukdee took on four events, securing a best finish of 5th in Square-1 and setting a new personal best of 8.06 seconds, which was 6.1 percent faster than his earlier best.
Other dedicated solvers marked great strides throughout the rounds as well. Tanaphat Kamonvichien competed in three events, recording his first ever attempt at 3x3x3 Fewest Moves with 36 moves, setting a Square-1 personal best of 13.69 seconds, and finishing 4th in Clock. Rongna Ou delivered a steady Clock personal best of 23.36 seconds in her event appearance. Khonthee Jaroensiriphan completed a demanding program across four separate events, earning his weekend best finish of 16th place in 3x3x3 Fewest Moves.
In the Clock event, Yindee Wattanawong delivered a winning average of 4.49 seconds alongside a tournament single best of 3.21 seconds. Amolrada Ratchayakorn followed closely behind in second place with an average of 5.01 seconds, while Parist Pariyakanok rounded out the podium in third with 5.44 seconds. The fast-paced resetting and turning of dials brought a contrasting, energetic cadence to the afternoon schedule.
Square-1 wrapped up the action with sharp geometric rotations, where Anukun Supcharoenkun took first place with a winning average of 10.28 seconds and a best single of 8.38. Natthaphat Mahtani claimed second place with an average of 11.74 seconds, followed by Phakinthorn Pronmongkolsuk in third with 12.12 seconds. Solvers cheered each other through tough scrambles, reflecting the tight-knit nature of the community as round results were posted.
As the final tables were cleared and scores entered into the official system, Bangkok Brain n' Cube 2025 concluded having awarded all 12 podium positions to competitors representing Thailand. The gathering stood out not only for its classic Rubik's Cube variants and distinct 3x3 results, but also for the strong bonds built between solvers. Participants packed away their gear looking forward to the next WCA competition on the 2025 calendar.
