Bangkok Big Time in Farm 2023

Asia Konvittayayotin delivered an emphatic masterclass on the biggest stages of the weekend, sweeping the premier large puzzle categories with authority. Held across September 30 and October 1 in Bangkok, Thailand, Bangkok Big Time in Farm 2023 saw 35 competitors gather across 11 rounds and six distinct disciplines. Konvittayayotin set the tone early and never relented, taking gold in both 6x6x6 Cube and 7x7x7 Cube to assert total control over the long-format events.

The 7x7x7 Cube final showcased Konvittayayotin operating at a blistering pace, logging a winning average of 2:28.88 along with the round single of 2:27.74. Chawin Ratanasiri secured second place with an average of 2:36.99, while Natthaphat Mahtani claimed third in 2:40.55. Konvittayayotin was just as dominant in 6x6x6 Cube, capturing top honors with a final average of 1:33.63 and a top single of 1:30.42. Mahtani took runner-up at 1:39.40, followed by Ratanasiri taking third in 1:45.11.

Natthaphat Mahtani bounced back from the big cube battles to capture a decisive victory in Megaminx. Mahtani posted a tournament-leading 36.98 average and a best single of 33.11 to lead the 23-competitor field across two rounds of play. Thada Phuenghua finished in second place with an average of 50.54, while Parist Pariyakanok earned the third podium step at 53.61. Mahtani proved to be one of the most versatile contenders of the entire speedcubing schedule.

Clock action drew the largest lineup of the event, with 29 competitors clashing across three fierce rounds. Atis Prasitvatanakul emerged victorious with a tidy 6.37 average, highlighted by a best single of 5.57. Yindee Wattanawong pushed hard to take second place with an average of 6.61, while Phasit Puengtang locked down the third spot on the podium at 6.96. The precision demonstrated across the dials kept the entire venue focused throughout the elimination stages.

Beyond the championship trophies, Bangkok Big Time in Farm 2023 served as a venue for massive personal breakthroughs and new milestones across the roster. Nonthakorn Chowalit entered two events and slashed their Clock personal best down to 11.21, an improvement of 64.7 percent, while also putting up a first ever Megaminx attempt of 2:10.85. Khonthee Jaroensiriphan tackled four events, cutting their Clock mark by 37.5 percent to 8.45 and recording a first ever attempt in 6x6x6 Cube at 5:21.69. Krittanat Kuvichitsuwan stepped up to two events, registering a first ever Megaminx single of 2:41.89 and an opening Clock mark of 24.07.

The progress continued across every corner of the scorecards. Thanapon Ponchai took on two events, earning a best finish of seventh in Clock with a first ever attempt of 6.06, while dropping their Megaminx personal best by 54.2 percent to 1:32.54. Nakrin Vorarattanapitak contested four events, cutting their 6x6x6 Cube personal best by 27.6 percent to 3:14.27 and dropping their Clock single by 10.9 percent to 10.63. Chisanupong Chulasereekul also took on four events, finishing sixth in 7x7x7 Cube with a 4.4 percent personal best of 3:58.95, while improving their 6x6x6 Cube best by 39 percent to 2:23.28 and their Clock mark by 20.5 percent to 16.45.

The blindfolded events proved intensely punishing for even the most seasoned competitors. In 4x4x4 Blindfolded, Anawin Chaichana rose above the difficult conditions to establish a new Thailand national record single of 5:11.59, earning first place in the process. The remaining contenders, Tanai Chaikraveephand, Korakot Inkaew, and Natthaphat Mahtani, all recorded non-completions. The demanding nature of big-cube blindfolded solving was evident again in 5x5x5 Blindfolded, where all entrants finished without a successful solve, leaving Tanai Chaikraveephand atop the rankings under tiebreak rules.

Even with a program centered on specialized disciplines rather than traditional 3x3 results, the enthusiasm for speed cubing was apparent from start to finish. Fans of the classic Rubik's Cube format found plenty to admire in the technical complexity of the polyhedral and multi-layer puzzles. Bangkok Big Time in Farm 2023 demonstrated the high level of preparation across the local circuit as this WCA competition closed another memorable weekend of play in Bangkok, Thailand.

As the final standings settled, Thai competitors swept all 21 podium places available across the six featured events. With national marks broken and personal bests rewritten by experienced and developing solvers alike, this cubing competition in 2023 delivered competitive drama at every turn. Attention across the community now turns toward the remaining stops on the calendar and the next rounds of record-setting performances.
