Avenida Chile XXXIII 2026 Tests Speedcubing Accuracy in BogotáEnglish
The open floors of Centro Comercial Avenida Chile filled with the rhythmic click of rotating plastic on April 12, 2026. Solvers gathered under the bright shopping center atrium in Bogotá, Colombia, methodically inspecting scrambles and aligning their timers. Across the busy tournament area, competitors prepared for twelve dense rounds of action across six official events, balancing rapid execution against the delicate focus needed to avoid disqualification or costly errors on every turn.
Across the schedule of this speedcubing fixture, the mathematical unforgivingness of timing formats shaped every round. In standard averages and particularly tight three-solve structures, the cost of a single lockup or minor oversight can instantly alter an entire standing. Speed cubing demands that solvers maintain composure when one slip can derail an otherwise brilliant sequence, leaving zero room for careless turning when podium spots are on the line.
The flagship Rubik's Cube category delivered intense drama through three packed rounds featuring 70 competitors. Lorenzo Gonzalez emerged victorious in the classic puzzle, putting together a winning average of 8.74 seconds alongside a sharp 8.00 best single. Thomas Cabezas took the second podium spot with a 9.05 average, closely followed by Manuel Popayán in third with 9.23. The decisive 3x3 results proved that consistent single-digit times were essential to survive the final cut in the Colombian capital.
Two-handed solving was not the only test of discipline during the WCA competition. In the 3x3x3 One-Handed division, 46 entrants tackled the demanding task of turning with a single hand, where Jerónimo González Sánchez took first place with a 16.99 average and a 15.12 best single. David Rendón Martínez secured second position with a 17.97 mark, while Lorenzo Gonzalez completed his second podium visit of the day by taking third place with an 18.18 average.
A major story of Avenida Chile XXXIII 2026 took place away from the final podiums, where personal milestones defined the day. Martín Hernández Nanzate achieved a standout leap in the 2x2x2 Cube, logging a personal best of 5.21 seconds to finish 74.8 percent faster than his previous best of 20.67. Emilio Ramirez Pelaez contested five events, producing a 3x3x3 One-Handed personal best of 25.89 that cut 48.8 percent off his prior 50.55 mark, in addition to making a first ever attempt at Skewb with a 7.90 result and placing 15th in Pyraminx. Brian Camilo Cardenas Sanchez entered six events, securing 25th in Megaminx with a personal best of 2:43.41, cutting his Skewb mark by 42.7 percent down to 9.29, and improving his one-handed best to 50.44.

Pedro Juan Escobar recorded an opening try of 37.21 in 3x3x3 One-Handed and improved his 3x3x3 Cube personal best by 17.9 percent to 15.99. Manuel Francisco Beltrán claimed the Pyraminx title with a remarkable 1.91 winning average and a 1.37 best single, finishing ahead of Axel Juan Pablo Moreno Rodriguez at 4.32 and José Ángel Salinas Salinas at 4.35. In the 2x2x2 Cube, Darien Camilo Bernal Gomez took top honors with an average of 3.02, edging out Manuel Francisco Beltrán at 3.14 and Joaquín Galeano Barrios at 3.57.
