Saboya Soto Secures Double Victory Across Multi-Round Clashes at Avenida Chile V LevelsEnglish

Eight distinct rounds across three classic events put endurance to the test as 116 competitors assembled in Bogotá, Colombia. The one-day WCA competition took place on November 19, 2023, turning Centro Comercial Avenida Chile into a battleground of precision under strict stage formats. With cutdowns trimming large fields across multiple stages of elimination, competitors had to deliver consistently to advance through the bracket and earn a spot in the finals.

The 3x3x3 Cube contest featured the deepest schedule of the meet, requiring solvers to navigate four full stages of competition. Out of an opening roster of 113 competitors, only the most steady hands survived the cuts to contest the decisive podium. When the dust settled, Juan Miguel Saboya Soto stood atop the 3x3 results, capturing first place with a winning average of 7.86 seconds alongside a best single of 7.01. Michael Andres Castillo Lemus followed closely behind to claim the runner-up position with an 8.60 average, while Gabriel Santiago Velez Gonzalez secured third with an 8.77 mark.

In the 2x2x2 Cube event, speed was paramount through a rapid two-round structure that tested 95 entrants. Juan Sebastian Mendez Llanos demonstrated sharp technique through both stages to take second place with a 2.49 average, while Lorenzo Gonzalez completed the podium in third position by posting a 3.15 average.

Beyond the traditional Rubik's Cube categories, the Square-1 puzzle provided a complex change of pace across its two scheduled rounds. A dedicated field of 16 specialists tackled the shape-shifting event, where Hector David Martinez Argaez dominated the final with a winning average of 11.30 seconds and the fastest single solve of the event at 9.73. Juan David Hernández Valderrama took second place with a 13.94 average, and David Felipe Gómez Prieto took the third spot on the podium with a 16.01 average.
