Shelwatkar and Jagtap Trade Wins at Saraswati College Cube Open 2025English

40 competitors gathered at the Saraswati College Of Engineering in Raigad, Maharashtra, India, as regional talent collided across five disciplines on March 29, 2025. The single-day WCA competition delivered nine rounds of intense speedcubing action, headlined by a tight duel between top regional solvers battling for supremacy across multiple finals. With India claiming all 15 podium positions throughout the meet, every round tested precision and nerves.

The premier 3x3x3 Cube event showcased an electric matchup at Saraswati College Cube Open 2025. Harsh Arvind Shelwatkar secured top honors with a decisive winning average of 8.78 seconds, alongside the round's best single time of 7.52 seconds. Dhruva Nikhil Jagtap kept the pressure on until the final solves, finishing runner-up with an average of 8.90 seconds, while Shubham Maharana locked down third place with a 9.20 average to complete a high-caliber Rubik's Cube podium.

Jagtap struck back emphatically in the 2x2x2 Cube final, demonstrating blistering execution to claim victory with a winning average of 1.72 seconds and a best single solve of 1.33 seconds. Maharana took the second spot with an average of 2.06 seconds, holding off Aayush Shah who completed the top three with an average of 3.22 seconds. The sprint format delivered high drama as competitors pushed turn speeds to the absolute limit.

Shelwatkar reasserted his dominance in the 3x3x3 One-Handed division, navigating 29 competitors over two rounds to take gold. His winning average of 13.15 seconds and single of 11.30 stood well clear of the chasing pack. Maharana earned his third podium finish of the day by placing second with a 15.70 average, while Jagtap finished third with a mark of 17.28 seconds in another classic clash between familiar rivals.

Beyond the top steps of the podium, several competitors delivered massive personal breakthroughs away from the limelight. Agastyaa Nikhil Ajgaonkar brought down his 3x3x3 One-Handed personal best to 51.08 seconds, an improvement of 29.3 percent, while also dropping his 3x3x3 mark to 15.47. Rudra Kailash Saini achieved a 27.5 percent cut in 2x2x2 to record 3.24 seconds alongside an 11.59 3x3x3 best across four events. Varshith shaved 23.9 percent off his 2x2x2 best with a 3.06 single, and Saurish Vatsyayan excelled across four events, lowering his one-handed best by 21.1 percent to 16.49, dropping his 3x3x3 best to 10.61, and taking 12th in 2x2x2.

That momentum continued throughout the field across varied puzzle disciplines. Avijitveer Singh took on four events and sliced 21.1 percent off his 3x3x3 One-Handed single down to 28.36 seconds. Ramith R chopped 18.2 percent off his Pyraminx single to reach 10.58 seconds, adding a 20.13 3x3x3 solve across his two events. Sean Mcmaster achieved an 11 percent improvement in the 3x3x3 Cube to set a personal best of 9.48 seconds on his way to an 11th-place finish, while Vanya Bhalerao improved her 2x2x2 single by 10.5 percent to 6.03 seconds and posted a 19.58 3x3x3 single.

Specialty categories added tactical depth to the cubing competition schedule. In Pyraminx, Imaad Sohel Ajani captured first place with an impressive winning average of 2.61 seconds and a best single of 2.37, edging past Shah who recorded an average of 2.74 seconds. Jagtap added yet another medal to his tally, securing third place with a 4.15 average to underline his consistency across different formats at Saraswati College Cube Open 2025.

The 4x4x4 Blindfolded event required immense concentration, as solvers tackled both the memorisation phase and execution without sight. Abhijeet Ghodgaonkar took first place with a winning average of 3:16.81 and a best single solve of 3:09.84. Yug Hiren Shah finished second with an average of 8:44.58, and Anay Shrikar secured third place with an average of 24:14.00, rounding out the demanding long-form event.

As the final timers stopped, Saraswati College Cube Open 2025 highlighted the depth of local speed cubing talent in western India. From the rapid 3x3 results to the cerebral blindfolded challenges, the intense rivalry between Shelwatkar, Jagtap, and Maharana defined an eventful day of tournament play that set high standards for the competitive circuit in 2025.

Saraswati College Of Engineering
