Luke Griesser and Luke Garrett Lead Fast Rounds at Return of the Ville KY 2025English

Eleven rounds of intense puzzle action greeted a packed room of seventy-five competitors at the Founders Union Building in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. Held on January 25, 2025, the single-day gathering tested stamina and adaptability across five distinct events. The structured format moved swiftly through multi-round brackets, allowing solvers to climb through qualifying phases into fiercely contested finals. Every phase demanded accuracy from the opening turns, giving speedcubing enthusiasts a thrilling spectacle as the field narrowed after each cutoff.

The flagship Rubik's Cube event featured three rigorous rounds, whittling down seventy-four entrants to the quickest finalists in the room. Winning the main bracket required nerves of steel, and Luke Griesser rose to the occasion by securing first place with a blistering 6.00 average, backed by a best single of 5.67. Luke Garrett took second place with a 6.36 average after delivering a stunning 5.07 single earlier in the rounds, while Amey Gaba captured third with a 6.83 average. The top-tier 3x3 results demonstrated how escalating pressure across consecutive rounds can bring out peak performances.

In the 3x3x3 One-Handed event, forty-two entrants took on the technical discipline across three full rounds of cuts. Eli Parker emerged on top of the podium with a 9.62 winning average and the round's best single of 7.84. Luke Garrett pushed hard through the final solve to take second place with a 9.83 average, while Nathan Miles locked in third place with a mark of 12.10. The three-round progression gave competitors time to dial in their turning speed and one-handed ergonomics on stage.

Luke Garrett established a dominant presence throughout the afternoon by sweeping the remaining three puzzle disciplines. In the 5x5x5 Cube, which spanned two rounds among thirty-six competitors, Garrett claimed victory with a 47.78 average and a best single of 43.90, finishing ahead of Amey Gaba in second at 53.76 and Miles Lentz in third at 1:00.61. The big cube format rewarded solvers who could maintain high turning speed without sacrificing clean lookahead on the outer layers.

Garrett continued his run in the memory-intensive blindfolded events, demonstrating total command of complex execution systems. In the two-round 3x3x3 Blindfolded discipline, he took top honors with a 37.89 average, accompanied by Mason Langenderfer in second with a 28.59 single and Isaac Navarro in third with a 1:37.34 single. Garrett closed out his triple-gold performance by winning the 3x3x3 Multi-Blind event, successfully solving 16 out of 18 cubes within the 58:48 time limit, while Evan Brown earned second place with 7 of 9 in 57:21 and Mason Langenderfer placed third with 11 of 19 in 50:11.
