United States Competitors Clean Sweep Every Podium at Cubing by the Kings OH 2025English
Luke Garrett delivered an overwhelming masterclass in Mason, Ohio, USA, capturing four championship titles to headline an outright United States sweep of all eighteen podium spots. Staged on August 24, 2025 at the Hilton Garden Inn Cincinnati/Mason, the single-day gathering saw eighty-one competitors battle across six events and thirteen rounds of top-tier speedcubing. The American contingent left no room on the medal stands for international challengers, locking down every top-three position across all disciplines. Garrett led that charge with decisive victories across puzzles of every shape and size.
The premier 3x3x3 Cube event drew a packed field of seventy-eight entrants, testing the classic Rubik's Cube over three rounds of intense action. Garrett set the benchmark early by dropping the tournament best single of 4.83 seconds before locking up the championship with a winning average of 6.13 seconds in the final. Fellow countryman Luke Griesser claimed the runner-up spot with an average of 6.34 seconds, while Xavier Ye secured third place with an 8.31 average. These decisive 3x3 results anchored a stellar day of competition for the host nation.
Garrett continued his dominant run on the larger twisty puzzles, outclassing fifty rivals over two rounds in the 4x4x4 Cube. His winning average of 26.85 seconds featured the fastest single of the day at 24.83 seconds, finishing well clear of Carson Clark, who took second place in 32.39 seconds, and Braden Richards in third at 33.47 seconds. Garrett carried that momentum directly into the twelve-sided Megaminx event, topping thirty-five competitors with a winning average of 40.24 seconds and a best single of 36.64 seconds, trailed by Griesser in second at 52.06 seconds and Garrett Hadaway in third at 52.22 seconds.
The mechanical Clock event provided yet another gold for Garrett among forty-three entrants over two rounds. Clocking the field best single of 3.58 seconds, Garrett assembled a winning average of 4.15 seconds to finish atop the podium ahead of Andrew Sotto with a 5.82 average and Harsha Paladugu with a 6.18 average. Across six diverse events, Garrett stood on five podiums, taking home four outright victories in an extraordinary showcase of speed cubing versatility.
While Garrett swept the big puzzles and specialty formats, the sprint events offered nail-biting finishes. The 2x2x2 Cube featured seventy-one entrants across three rounds, culminating in the tightest battle of the day. Sujan Feist earned the title with a lightning-fast winning average of 1.30 seconds and a best single of 0.93 seconds, edging Garrett, who took silver with a 1.34 average. Ye captured third place with an average of 2.30 seconds. In the Pyraminx, Ye climbed to the top step among fifty-seven competitors over two rounds, winning with a 2.65 average just ahead of Clark at 2.67 seconds and Cyrus Gearhart at 2.97 seconds.
